Ways of Seeing Design Research

This inquiry (co-authored with David Philip Green, Zach Mason and Enrique Encinas) engages with Design Research methods such as Design Fiction, Speculative Design, and Critical Design. These approaches comprise multiple purposes, interpretations, and motivations. The diversity reflects a fertile landscape; however, the entanglement of Design Research’s concerns makes examples hard to locate and their specific purposes difficult to articulate. In response this pictorial applies a Research through Design lens to
these challenges, contributing an argument for progressive Ways of Seeing Design Research.
